Why is Apple years ahead in technology ?
Have you ever wondered that every year when apple releases its product , it leaves behind every other competitive tech venture out in the dust ?
Anyone who’s gone into an Apple store knows full well that Apple’s customer service and stores represent
the gold standard for selling and supporting tech gadgets. But beyond that, the reasons why Apple is really
successful are still a mystery to many.
Friends some of you reading this blog might be an android fan while some of you would be an Iphone fan , it doesn't matter at all that which OI you like the most , everybody has his/her own reasons and views about any topics he/she participates in , it defines us humans.
Some of you may think that an Iphone only has 1gb RAM while an android most commonly has 2 or 3 Gb RAM ? This is a non technical aspect of comparing two flagship interfaces , but let me tell you that an Iphone works more efficiently and smoothly in 1gb RAM than an android at 2 or 3 Gb RAM , WHY ?
The most probable reason is because Apple believes in performance , and this performance factor is improved by not adding or increasing features , but by improving the characteristic features .
Folks , here are the most probable and success defining reasons of Apple that helps it staying on top of the tech ventures and staying about 2 years ahead in technology than other competitors.
1. Apple released its Iphone in 2007 and reshaped the tech industry .Apple stays at least two years ahead of its competitors .This is the one that scares Apple’s competitors the most. While those competing with Apple are just getting products to market that are competitive, Apple is already working on the products at least
two years out. For example, the new iPhone that will most likely go to market in October was designed and signed off on two years ago. And the iPhone the company is working on now is for the fall of 2014.
The same goes for the iPad. The new iPad that we will most likely see next March was signed off on two years ago. The one that’s being worked on now we will probably see in 2015. This is a nightmare for Apple’s competitors and will continue to be for some time.
2. Another reason that supports this topic is that Apple releases limited products at a time , this gives really ease and simplicity to the user that buys the Apple products. He/she does not have to compare the too many devices of the same brand and then select his/her favorite product which is a tiring process.
3. Apple only makes a product it believes it can make it better.
Apple normally doesn’t invent a new product or product category. Sure, the company did invent the first commercial PC with the Apple II, and the Mac improved on PCs with a graphical user interface and mouse input. But since then, all of Apple’s other products have been recreations of existing products. Apple did not invent the MP3 player; Apple reinvented it and made it better. Apple did not invent the smart phone; Apple reinvented it and made it better. And Apple did not invent the tablet; Apple reinvented it and made it better.
As Apple designer Jonathan Ive said recently, “Our goals are very simple — to design and make better products. If we can’t make something that is better, we won’t do it.” Clearly, Apple applied that thinking first to iPods, then smart phones and more recently, to the iPad.
4. Investing strategy
According to a very interesting post on Quora , Apple uses its massive pool of money to shop for and invest in new technologies so that they come to market years before they would otherwise have done so. Their strategy is to use cash (rather than credit) to gain exclusive access to various technologies, leaving their competitors in the dust.
By getting access to technologies long before its rivals are even aware of them, Apple has an automatic competitive edge that lets them release products that are more than cutting edge – they’re far ahead of the curve.
5. Hardware
The touch screen technology on the Iphone was successful not just due to software , but also due to hardware advances and touch screen technology that Apple had early access to, unlike their struggling competitors.
Even Apple’s precision aluminum milling technique that they use to produce incredibly thin and light laptops like the MacBook Air, which is one of the thinnest laptops in its class, or the MacBook Air, which is one of the thinnest and lightest computers in the world, is a result of strategic purchasing, exclusive access, and then receiving a significant discount on the technology later on down the road.
In short, it is Apple’s strategic use of cash and careful shopping of new technologies to invest in that drives them to the top of the industry – that’s the reason why nobody can manage to produce a sub-$500 tablet that’s capable of competing with the iPad. The secret, in short, really is that they are using tech from the “future”, or that wouldn’t have been available for years without Apple’s intervention.
Basically, two parts cash, one part futuristic technology, and one part innovation all add up to the Apple products you know and love today.
